A thorough initial examination is the cornerstone of a health care program for the pet lizard. All newly acquired lizards, regardless of age, should be thoroughly
examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible.
Routine health examination includes clinical examination, faecal exam, and possible blood screen. These should be considered after purchase. Maintain accurate
records to weight, snout-vent length, accepted and refused feeds, ecdysis (skin shedding), and defaecation as this information is vital if problems arise. Lizards are extremely proficient at hiding their illnesses until it's almost too late to get them treatment. Get them examined immediately when you observe any change in normal behavior or symptoms of possible illness.
